This class is designed to give the students a historical account of the Dakota Design from 1850s prior and after 1850s. The class will cover the cultural significance of the change in design and representation. The class will focus on the history behind the change in the different styles and techniques. The class will focus on the 4 stages of life and the cultural items associated with the stages. It will cover the types of materials and change in preparing materials. The Dakota language will be used throughout the course. The labs time will be used for the student to engage in the actual making of designated projects, midterm project and final project which will be their graded with a reflection paper on the hands on process and experience.
